MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday said that it will implement a liquor ban for the barangay elections on October 28.
According to Comelec Resolution 9715, the liquor ban will be implemented on the eve (October 27) and on the day of the barangay elections.
The “giving, accepting, free transportation, food, drinks and things of value” is also prohibited under the resolution.
The same resolution also states that the filing of the certificates of candidacy for the barangay election will be on October 15.
The Comelec said that the election period will start on September 28.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the printing of the ballots for the barangay elections is ongoing and the poll body will start the training of teachers on the first week of October.
